Refrigeration Specialists Inc (R.S.I) is / was very proud to be one of the first approved network of excellence member for Heat Pumps on PEI .
We are the leading Island Owned Fujitsu Mini-Split Installer on PEI!
The PEI Gov’t rebate has generated large growth in the Heat Pump Installation market which is allowing islanders access to affordable heating and cooling solutions for their homes .
With this growth a large number of new company’s and existing company’s began installing heat pumps for the first time!
We at Refrigeration Specialists Inc understand that we will not be able to install every single Heat Pump installed on PEI ( we are trying tho ) .
We want to stress the importance of choosing the most efficient model at a fair price and to choose a installer that will still be in business after the “Heat Pump Boom” is over.
In order to help islanders with this I have provided the below questions that should be asked when considering a heat pump installer.
How long has the company been in business ?
Is the company a dedicated Refrigeration Company and or a Heat Pump Installer ? . Remember a Heat Pump is a Refrigeration unit acting in reverse.

Review the Internet for reviews on the company ?
Will the company be around to service / repair the unit after the rebate is over ?
Does the company charge a service fee for warranty work and if so how much ?
Does the installation include the electrical cost ?
Islanders should ask the following questions to help them select the correct Heat Pump for there home
What unit is the company recommending ?
Can you google the model number and receive results.
If you do not get any results chances are the unit is not very common and you might have difficulties in the availability of parts if the unit was to break.
How efficient is the unit ?
HSPF is a ration of BTU heat output over the heating season to watt-hour of electricity used. The Higher the HSPF number the more efficient the unit is at heating. For a Mini-Split to qualify for the PEI energy rebate it must have a HSPF of 10 or Higher.
SEER rating of a unit is the cooling output during a typical cool-season dived by the total electric energy input during the same period. The Higher the SEER number the more efficient the unit is at cooling
